Dave Watson freelances as a video director, producer, motion graphics designer, animator, cinematographer, editor and sound designer, and teaches these techniques in colleges.
His recent project work includes directing, shooting, editing and creating motion graphics for a music video for The Chase by Resus, creating the soundtrack for episodes of David Mitchell’s Soapbox and Harry Hill’s Little Internet Show for Channel Flip, and producing their animated ident in Adobe After Effects.
In early 2010 he completed New Light Stir, a 25 minute magical-realist drama which he co-directed and produced with scriptwriter Mike Mallett. The film is currently in submission to festivals. The trailer can be viewed here.
Dave’s 2005 animation 080 was screened at numerous venues in the UK with the British Animation Awards tour, finishing in the top ten in the music video and student categories, and won him Best Student Film at Birmingham’s FilMid festival.
Dave gained a 1st class BA in Interactive Arts at MMU in 2005, and a Diploma in Audio Engineering at Manchester School of Sound in 2001.
